| | | The English Setter is a breed of dog. The English Setter was originally bred to set or point upland game birds. They are very active dogs that need plenty of exercise. Their long, flowing coat requires regular grooming. They are happiest when they are part of the family or are working with a hunter. They are white with black or orange flecks, or white with black and tan flecks (tricolour). They are part of the Setter family, which includes red Irish Setters and black Gordon Setters.
